VITEEE
Admission to BTech programmes at VIT's Vellore, Chennai, AP (Amaravati) and Bhopal campuses. Rank decides campus and branch in online counselling.
Eligibility
Open to resident Indians, NRIs, OCI and PIO card holders. You need Class 12 (or equivalent), passed or appearing, with at least 60% aggregate in PCM and at least 50% in Mathematics. PCB students can apply for specified biology-related programmes. The threshold is 50% aggregate for SC/ST candidates and for those from J&K, Ladakh and the North-East. You can take VITEEE only once per cycle.
Age limit: Born on or after 1 July 2004 for the 2026 cycle; likely 1 July 2005 for 2027
Exam pattern
A 2.5-hour computer-based test in English with 125 MCQs: Mathematics or Biology 40, Physics 35, Chemistry 35, Aptitude 10 and English 5. Under the 2026 marking scheme, a correct answer earns +4 and a wrong answer costs −1, for a maximum of 500. Candidates book their own date and slot through VIT's online slot-booking system (OTBS).
Syllabus at a glance
Class 11-12 Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (or Biology) as notified by VIT, close to the NCERT syllabus. Aptitude covers data interpretation, data sufficiency, syllogisms, number series and coding-decoding. The English section covers comprehension and grammar.

How toppers play it
- Mathematics carries 40 of the 125 questions and largely decides your rank band. Give it the most practice time.
- Under the 2026 scheme, +4/−1 means a guess is worth taking after you eliminate one or two options. Check the 2027 brochure in case the marking changes.
- Book an early slot in OTBS if your JEE Main Session 2 preparation is complete. Otherwise pick a later slot so the two don't clash.
- The 15 aptitude and English questions are quick marks. Do 10-15 minutes of reasoning practice every day in the last month.
- Ranks under about 10,000 to 15,000 are usually needed for CSE at Vellore and Chennai, so aim for accuracy rather than attempting everything.
