CUET-UG
Single-window admission test for undergraduate programmes at central universities (Delhi University, BHU, JNU, Jamia, AMU and others) plus many state, deemed and private universities — 250+ institutions in all.
Eligibility
Any candidate who has passed or is appearing in Class 12 from a recognised board may apply; there is no age limit. Since 2025 candidates may take any CUET subject regardless of what they studied in Class 12, though individual universities may still impose their own stream or marks conditions for specific courses. A maximum of five subjects (languages, domain subjects and the General Aptitude Test combined) can be chosen.

Exam pattern
Fully computer-based test held over multiple days and shifts in May. From 2026 the menu is 37 subjects — 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and the General Aptitude Test — of which a candidate picks at most five. Every paper is 60 minutes with 50 compulsory multiple-choice questions. Marking is +5 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one, and scores across shifts are normalised before results.
Syllabus at a glance
Domain subject papers follow the NCERT Class 12 syllabus (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, Accountancy, Economics, History, Political Science and so on). Language papers test reading comprehension, vocabulary and usage. The General Aptitude Test covers general knowledge, current affairs, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning and logical reasoning.

How toppers play it
- Pick your five subjects backwards from the admission rules of your target universities — a high score in a subject a university does not count is wasted effort.
- Stay strictly within NCERT for domain papers; CUET questions are set line-by-line from those textbooks, and coaching-style extra material has poor returns.
- With +5/−1 marking and all 50 questions compulsory to attempt-or-skip in 60 minutes, do a first fast pass for sure answers, then return — a single careless error swings 6 marks.
- Practise on the NTA mock platform so the CBT interface, timer and review-flag workflow are second nature before exam day.
- Because normalisation across shifts uses percentile, consistency across all your subjects matters more than one standout paper for university merit lists.
